Lucy and Patrick are multi-disciplinary talents that will be bringing their wares to the Spring Brighton Craftaganza craft market at Fabrica on Saturday 2nd March. But in the meantime, let’s see what they have to say for themselves…
Please introduce yourself….
Hello we are Patrick Gildersleeves and Lucy Cheung. Patrick is from Sunny Suffolk and Lucy is from all over the South. We met studying art in Leeds and are now living and working in Hollingdream, Brighton.
Describe the products you currently make to sell
We will be selling prints, artists books and other papery goodness.
Where and when do you design and make your products?
We produce and design our products in our Hollingdream studios all year round.
How long have you been selling your wares and how did it begin?
We’ve been making and selling since we graduated from university and started doing craft markets for fun.
What drew you to the Brighton area, if you are not a ‘native’?
We came for sun, sea and pebbles.
Any other crafty disciplines you like to practice?
Lucy has recently started sewing clothes. Most of Patrick’s wardrobe is made by Lucy. Patrick likes to build furniture for fun out of things what he can find.
What inspires the things you make?
We’re both inspired by indigenous cultures, outsider art and nature. Lucy has an image research blog at www.crushevil.co.uk
Just do it.
